Instructions
Season pork chops on both sides with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add pork chops and cook for 5-6 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature 145°F). Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. You can give the skillet a quick wipe, if you prefer, but there's no need to wash it.
Add apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir gently to coat apples.
Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender but still hold their shape.
Stir in lemon juice.
Return pork chops to the skillet, nestling them among the apple slices.
Simmer for an additional 1-2 minutes to reheat the pork chops.
Serve pork chops with the apple slices spooned over top.
Notes
Pork Chops: You can use boneless pork chops instead. Boneless pork chops should cook faster, so adjust the cooking time accordingly.
Salt: Feel free to adjust the salt to your liking. Sea salt also works well and cuts down on the sodium and saltiness of the dish.
Apples: I recommend firm apples like Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Granny Smith as they hold their shape during cooking and provide a nice balance of sweetness and tartness.
Brown Sugar: Use honey or maple syrup as a sweetener. Honey and maple syrup are sweeter, so adjust the amounts according to your tastes.
