    Turkey black bean sweet potato chili is an easy Instant Pot dinner recipe! This simple chili is full of healthy ingredients like lean ground turkey, sweet potatoes, and black beans.

    The chili is super tasty! The sweet potatoes add just a bit of sweetness that helps to balance out the spices in the chili. Plus, it’s made entirely in the Instant Pot, which makes for easy cleanup.

    • Turkey: You can substitute lean ground turkey or even ground chicken for the extra lean ground turkey.
    • Tomatoes: Feel free to substitute diced tomatoes in place of the fire-roasted tomatoes.
    • Seasonings: You can adjust the seasonings to your liking. For example, if you want spicier chili, you can add more chili powder.

    How to make Instant Pot turkey black bean sweet potato chili

    Press SAUTE on the Instant Pot. When HOT, add 2 tablespoons oil and swirl to coat.

    Add the sweet potato, and until it starts to soften, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

    Remove the sweet potatoes to a plate. Add the remaining tablespoon of oil.

    Stir in the onion, garlic, and ground turkey. Cook until the meat is cooked through and no longer pink, about 5-6 minutes, stirring regularly.

    Press CANCEL.

    Stir in the sweet potatoes, broth, tomatoes, tomato paste, beans, and spices. Season with salt and pepper.

    Close and lock the lid. Turn the pressure release valve to SEALING.

    Press MANUAL HIGH pressure and adjust the time to 10 minutes.

    Once the cooking time has finished, carefully release the pressure by turning the pressure release valve to VENTING.

    Give it a good stir and season with additional salt and pepper as needed.

    Ingredients

    • 3 tablespoons olive oil divided
    • 3 cups peeled and diced sweet potato about 3 medium or 2 large
    • Salt and pepper
    • 1 cup diced white or yellow onion
    • 4 cloves garlic minced
    • 1 ½ pounds 99% lean ground turkey
    • 2 cups reduced-sodium chicken broth
    • 14.5 ounce can fire roasted tomatoes
    • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
    • 15 ounce can black beans drained and rinsed
    • 1 tablespoon chili powder
    • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
    • ½ teaspoon dried oregano

    Instructions

    • Press SAUTE on the Instant Pot.
    • When HOT, add 2 tablespoons oil and swirl to coat.
